Engineering Manager

The Business

Ocean Fish is a fast-growing, dynamic and privately-owned seafood business located in mid-Cornwall. We serve a variety of household retail and wholesale customers both in the UK and Internationally.

The Position

We are seeking an Engineering Manager with strong electrical and refrigeration skills to join our team in Cornwall. The role will be to keep production running smoothly by reacting to breakdowns and carrying out preventative maintenance. In addition to a good working knowledge of multivac skin packing equipment, the ideal candidate will also have experience of working on the service / maintenance and repair of a wide range of refrigeration plant in commercial properties. Having experience of working on equipment such as cold rooms, ice machines, and plate freezers would be a distinct advantage, experience working with ammonia would also be advantageous. In addition to the plant onsite the business also runs a fleet of Fishing vessels and refrigerated vehicles and would be looking for an individual to help service and maintain this equipment.

·To react to production breakdowns and follow preventative maintenance inspection routines according to schedule

·The Multi Skilled Engineering Manager will be reporting to the Senior Management team

·Participate in continuous development and training

·Liaise with colleagues and other departments to enhance efficiencies and aid business development

·Adhere to policies and procedures relating to health, safety and quality

·Adhere to site and corporate health and safety policies

The Candidate

The Ideal Candidate would have;

·3 years minimum experience working in a multi skilled production engineer role in a FMCG / manufacturing industry

·C & G Level 3 electrical maintenance qualified

·C & G Level 3 mechanical engineer qualified

·Fgas Certificate

·Computer literate

·Demonstrate experience of working to high quality standards

·Good attention to detail.

·Flexible team player with an ability to operate with minimum supervision

·Can perform risk assessments with a high level of health & safety awareness

·Excellent time management skills

Packaging Supervisor

The Business

Purpose of the role

We are currently recruiting a packaging supervisor to work with the production, operations and finance teams. You will be responsible for the management and control of all site packaging stocks as well as placing orders to ensure that a JIT approach to production is adopted. Working a five-day shift which includes weekend rotation.

Essential Skills/Experience/Qualities

  • Experience of managing packaging stocks and reorder process in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong organisational skills to ensure that dry stocks are managed efficiently to avoid disruption to the daily production process
  • Understanding of ‘bill-of-materials’ for various SKUs and constantly updating based on production actuals.
  • Computer and numeracy literate individual with some experience of MS Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and build relationships with key business stakeholders

Production Manager

Purpose of the role

You will be managing the daily operations of production; providing leadership and direction to production personnel. Working a Five day shift which includes weekend rotation

Role Requirements

  • Managing overall hours of production staff
  • Complete production plan; establishing priorities, monitoring progress, assigning personnel, reporting daily process output and resolving problems
  • Ensuring the team meet production targets and the production process is cost effective
  • Reporting machine breakdowns
  • Completing and checking production paperwork
  • Ensuring stock control is adhered to ; carry out month end stock takes with team.
  • Approving and updating paperwork for holiday requests, sick leave, time sheets etc
  • Ensure planned KPI’s are efficient and performance is met or exceeded.
  • Monitor and review the performance of staff and organise necessary interventions for improvements. Track competencies of team members and provide leadership and development as required to achieve production objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies, systems and processes and the continual improvement of safety procedures.
  • Analyse production and quality control to detect and correct problems. Determine and implement improvements to processes.

HGV Class 1 Driver
